well, i get this error and i hope there is a way to change things without having to render AGAIN. i have my wedding footage added a Magic Bullet effect. I exported from Premiere as an MPeg2. After 24 hours of transcoding it finished. I was excited. I tried importing to Encore and at the end of the import it says video must be 24 or 29.97 fps. i checked in premiere and its 30fps. Is there anything i can do about this. Thanks

Are you sure that the framerate is the culprit? Was that the only thing contained in the error message?
Encore accepts drop and non-drop, but really needs 480i/p. Other than the framesize, I can only think of another issue, and that’s a corrupted file. Try exporting a tiny work area and see if the same settings work out.
BTW, are you exporting with the Mpeg2-DVD settings, and what ARE those settings?

yup that was the only error. everything was brought in via firewire from my vhs player. ive done this before with no issues.. the settings wrer cbr. everything was pretty much standard. it plays well in the movieplayer.

One cannot export 30 fps from the Adobe media encoder when choosing Mpeg 2 DVD as the format, but 30 fps is an option for encoding Mpeg 2 format.
Also 30 fps is not an option for DV-NTSC Standard 48 kHz project setting preset.
Is it possible you chose Mpeg 2 format in the export settings or chose a project preset other than DV-NTSC? -

I always thought that it was an error on adobe’s side on the export options.
One of the options is 29.97 non-drop, (30 fps?), the other 29.97 drop ??
29.97 is the result of dropping frame from 30fps, so if you came make sense of that for me I will be forever grateful.

Frame rate and timecode display mode are 2 different things. The display mode does not change the frame rate, simply makes it easier to work with. Drop frame display drops 1 frame number (not the frame itself) every 2 minutes.

Thanks for the clarification. I never work on 30 fps timebase projects, so I actually never realized that that option wasn’t even available even on those type of projects. But what if you do work on a 30 fps project(not that it would be common occurrence, but given the previous post, I thought i would bring it up), would that conversion be done no matter what, since 30 fps isn’t available ?

The only way the encoder will change the Mpeg 2 frame rate is to choose the wrong Format of Mpeg 2 and not the correct one Mpeg 2 DVD.
