    Hi,

I just got my first copy of After Effects (version 7 Professional for Mac). This is my first time with this software.
Is there a particular book or DVD that you guys would recommend to learn how to use it?

    Thanks a lot!

“Creating Motion Graphics in After Effects” by Chris and Trish Meyer. It covers version 6.5, but don’t let that stop you. Probably one of the best texts that you’ll find for After Effects. Loaded with tutorials, extras, etc, and the book is in full color. Its two volumes now, by the way.

The tutorials here are great, but the book will help you understand the how and why of After Effects to a much greater depth.

Good luck, you’ll love the program.

Besides the Meyers books (excellent), I like “AAfter Effects 7.0 Studio Techniques” by Mark Christensen, very professional. My two cents.

    Heres how I learned AE:
-did almost all the Cow tutorials
    -motionscript.com for expressions
    -Chris and Trish Meyer’s books
    -The AE manual

I probably learned the most from the last one.

OR even better.. just starting pushing buttons and see what happens 🙂 then read the manual later to understand it 🙂
