  • Layer needs to negate camera Pos/Rot/Orientation

    Good Day Folks!

I’ve got FreeForm applied on an Adjustment Layer. The layers below include Layer A and its duplicate which has been set to mimic its reflection. So far so good.

I add another layer to act as a floor which has been set as a 3D layer. This floor layer is placed in the middle of Layer A and its reflection layer which are both 2D layers.

The problem comes into play when the Camera animates and the Floor layer is affected by the camera. I think I need an Expression(s) applied to the Floor layer such that it cancels out the camera movements.

    Sense Make???

if the floor doesn’t need to animate/react to the camera movement, does it need to be 3d…? if perspective is all you need for the floor, maybe it could be faked with corner pin or some other method….

Yup, Kevin, I was thinking of that. I actually tried Basic 3D and it just didn’t work at all. I’ll see if Corner Pin does the job. But an Expression would be nice cos I just know that I’ll be fiddling with Lights later on.

If you mean that no matter how the camera animates, the floor should remain immobile, then you should just parent the floor to the camera.
Otherwise I’m not sure what you mean by “negate the camera”

    Hi Filip
I did that but the Floor is being affected by Freeform which is applied to the an Adjustment Layer at the top of the stack.

The stack is made up of the main layer, its reflection and the floor that sits between the main layer and its reflection.

Moving the Floor above the Adjustment Layer doesn’t work cos it cuts the main layer and its reflection layer awkwardly. I think I should be able to solve it by applying an instance of Freeform directly on the Floor layer and animating the affected properties inversely relative to the Adjustment Layer’s Freeform settings.

    Cheers
