Activity Forums Adobe After Effects Expressions layer disappears

  • Posted by Maryanne Hamill on April 14, 2008 at 1:26 pm

I’m not very proficient with expressions yet. So I used an animation preset: Dissolve-Ripple on 2 separate layers. I’m also using another animation preset: Box Blur on a third layer. They are all coming in or going out around the same time. One layer with the Dissolve-Ripple comes in fine. The other layer starts to come in & then disappears twice. I used the same FX going out & the same thing happened. It does not do this in RAM render only in final render. I’ve RAm rendered the fields too & it doesn’t disappear there.
I’ve included a snapshot of the Timeline 1 Timeline 2 to see if I did something wrong. The problem layer is called corner Pre-comp 1. There are no FX in the precomp. It’s just the grfx. I hope someone can help me figure out why the layer disappears. I ran a hardware scan & it found nothing. Next week I’ll run a hardware test loop to see if after a bunch of times thru it gets anything.
Thanks in advance for any help.-Maryanne

    Long shot:

in the timeline, do you see small dots on your layer at the beginning ? These dots are added to indicate that a layer sans inherent duration (a text layer, a solid, a still) has been extended to the left, before it’s original starting point.

I’ve traced down some unexplainable render-bugs or crashes to layers that exhibit this.

    Hope it helps.

Sorry, rechecked your screenshots, and it’s not the case, besides that functionality is only in CS3
