  • Latest Compressor dropping/changing frames on H264 Conversion

We just upgraded to Snow Leopard, and the latest Final Cut Studio, since we are in between major projects.

We have also started using DSLR’s, using Canon EOS 7d’s. The footage comes in from the card as h264. When we use compressor to transcode, we get gamma shifts and dropped frames. All codecs. in the Apple family. (uncompressed, AIC, etc) I have tested across 2 computers, 6 codecs, and 2 pieces of footage on different hard disks. (1 RAID, 1 internal)

Interestingly, Quicktime 7 which has been strangely relegated to the utilities directory, did a fine job of transcoding this footage.

Anyone else having issues like this?

So how does one go about having Compressor use QT7 instead of this version 8?

    Hi RI,
Are you keeping the original time-base when transcoding in Compressor?
I would recommend you to try MPGStreamclip (free). It gave also Batch export capabilities.
    Cheers,

    Thanks for writing.

Yes, we’re shooting at 24p, and keeping all of that the same. We have also tried the automatic gamma on/off.

When compressor is working, it’s awesome. I hate to think it’s not working and go to another solution.
