  • Large avi files corrupt?

Posted by Kevin Snyder on November 21, 2007 at 7:27 pm

When I render a short animation (approx 300 frames), uncompressed avi files work fine. However, I am rendering a longer animation (approx. 3,000 frames) using uncompressed avi as the codec and the file will not play. I have tried a number of applictions, but I always get the message that the file is corrupt. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Should I reinstall Cinema (I’m using 9.1)?

    Thank you.

    Hi:

I would recommend to export large movies (I even do so with small ones) to a jpg image sequence. That way you can composite them in After Effects, etc in a much easier way without any problems. Besides if something goes wrong at the middle of the animation, you can restart the render from the point the problem is, you wont have to re-render everything again.

As After Effects, premiere or Vegas are far more specialized for encoding you can chose a lot of formats without fearing corruption and thus re-render.

    Regards
