A few comments:
1-not sure how Mac handles PC instruction set, whether it’s a windows shell or a whole different operating system. I can tell you that if it’s a windows shell operating on top of a basic MacOS, you’ll have problems with video renders. Shell OS’s, what I call emulators, are notorious resource consumers. A shell OS plus any NLE is gonna have problems.
2-I am avoiding Vista at all costs. This OS is top heavy with DRM software which will drive you to madness
3-My dual Dell Inspiron works great for me

Still haven’t decided on a macbookpro or a pc. HP is coming out with a huge laptop this month with a 20″ screen, 512mb video card, up to 2.8ghz dual core, 4mb ram, HD drive.

It seems like most people are having downers with Vista and Vegas. Still would like to hear of anyone using them successfully.

2.16ghz duo is fast enough for previewing at full? I don’t suppose you’ve tried to capture CineformHD through your laptop? They recommend using a 2.8ghz processor and it doesn’t seem that Cineform utalized duo core.

What do you think about Hp’s new pc?
