Laggy Playback for game capture footage on Mac, but not on PC
I work for a studio that does a lot of video game content, and as such we capture a lot of our own gameplay footage using the ElGato HD game capture device. We usually record from whatever console or our Gaming PC to another computer (we have tried both PC and Mac as the recording computers) in 720p H.264 MP4 file format. Once the recording is handed off to us in the editing bay, we bring it into Premiere on our Mac towers (which are our primary editing machines) and find it nearly impossible to edit due to laggy playback or the image refusing to play while the audio sounds fine. When we bring the footage into Premiere on a PC it plays perfectly fine. I’ve racked my brain for a solution to this but I can’t think of anything besides perhaps the graphics cards in our Macs are not up to par. Is there anyone that could suggest another solution? I’m including the Mac tower specs below.
Processor 2 x 2.4 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
Memory 32 GB 1066 MHz DDR3 ECC
Graphics NVIDIA Quadro 4000 2048 MB
Software OS X 10.9.3 (13D65)
