This is weird, hoping to get more info. My LaCie (which has been unwisely shuttled between my Mac station and a co-worker’s PC) takes all media files that are larger than 2 gigs and breaks them into smaller subclips of 2 gigs or less. I am told that this is a PC thing and the LaCie people tell me to reformat the disk. In preparation to reformat I moved files, and now I can’t reconnect because FCP doesn’t recognize the subclip files (it finds them, but doesn’t reconnect them). I figure I have to recapture the stuff, but was wondering if anyone has had similar experiences and insights.

    Thanks.

That’s the result of a using a PC formatted drive on FCP. Unfortunately I believe you’re just going to have to competely reformat the drive and then recapture everything. FCP will not be able to reconnect the subclips correctly in any way shape or form.

As I figured. Life is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury but signifying nothing. In this case, my co-worker on his PC is the idiot.

    Thanks

I’m not sure if this will work, but can you bring in the clips (individually), put them in sequence in a timeline and select each cut point and select join through edit?
