February 12, 2006 at 5:10 amWho in the LA market would accept a 6-hour gig (and supply the gear, yet) for $150.
I’m in the midwest and that’s about a $750-$1000 job on DV.
Yikes!

February 12, 2006 at 6:13 amhope you found somebody to help you. but it seems as Matte said very low.
factor in $10 gas, and 4 x $4 tapes. your down to $125. I could not afford to use my stuff and all the expense. You also have to think about the quality. Im sure you might get offers, but bad video, might never be able to be fixed. Paying 2-3 x more might get the hungry pro. that will actually produce footage that can be used. personally nothing is more frustrating than trying to edit junk. editing junk cost more $$$ because it eats to much time.hope you get this done with the results you desire

February 12, 2006 at 8:52 pmWell, he didn’t say but I didn’t get the impression that he wanted them to supply their own equipment.
IF it’s all from a tripod in one location then $150 isn’t too bad for showing up and sitting there 6 hours. That’s $25 an hour to do very little. If it involves hand-held work, then yes, you’d wanta to offer more money than that to get good results.
At any rate, I hope he found someone but I doubt it came from the COW…this place isn’t too active on the weekends.

February 12, 2006 at 10:08 pmThat’s valid info, but consider this:
He didn’t say he WAS going to supply the gear, and in my experience that means the SHOOTER supplies it.
This is in LA. (Housing costs alone are STAGGERING!)
A 40 hour-a-week pro video job at $25/hour ($52,000/year) in LA is actually pretty low.To offer this FREE-LANCE is VERY low.

February 18, 2006 at 4:30 pmSounds like the job is suitable for a emerging film student who owns a dv camera package.
No real skill set needed for lighting or camera work just point and shoot.
Whoever does this job should require COD payment.
