Kona2 and Tiger + Final Cut 5???
Posted by Sam on September 11, 2005 at 12:06 amHello
We have been using the Kona2 with 4.5 and 10.3.8 and are thinking about ordering the upgrades for Final Cut Studio since the New Mac here has Tiger with IO hooked up to it. I would like to get the upgrade for the Kona2 machine as well. Any ideas? Is Kona2 working with Tiger and Final Cut 5? Any thoughts or tips?
Thanks

There aren’t any upgrades to the Kona 2, just some new drivers.
Kona 2 is running fine with FCP Studio / Tiger here for the past 3 months. Keep in mind you need to do a clean install of the OS and then install FCP Studio. I actually erased by harddrive and started all over from scratch when I did the upgrade.

September 11, 2005 at 3:13 amThank You Walter. Its gives me a lot of relief to see that someone else is running it for a while. I am assuming that it is with the latest 1.1.2 drivers?
Thx..
I guess Monday it is for my G5 to accept the clean install.

September 11, 2005 at 3:18 amYeah, the 1.1.2 drivers are great and a new set of drivers will be out soon. That’s the best part about AJA, new drivers come out all the time improving the product.

September 11, 2005 at 4:02 pmEverybody is playing nicely here, but you’ve got to do a clean install of Tiger. I tried the easy way out, (just by doing the upgrade) and it was problematic.
As a matter of fact I used Carbon Copy Cloner to back up my G5 boot drive to a Firewire. Wiped the primary drive in the G5, then re-installed all apps from original CDs. Then moved any support files back from the firewire.
3 months now and everybody plays nicely. Tiger 10.4.2, FCP 5.02 & Kona 1.1.2.
