  • Kona LS – Can’t digitize AES/EBU audio in FCP HD 4.5…HELP!!!

Any help would be much appreciated as I can’t work until this problem is solved!!!!

I’m working with a PowerMac G5, Final Cut Pro 4.5 HD. I’m currently cutting a feature film, and I need to digitize AUDIO ONLY from DAT tapes to later sync up with dailies. I have the KONA LS card (1.0.4), and I’m using the Kona RS-422 port for DAT deck control. Audio is going out AES/EBU from the DAT deck (Sony PCM-7040), and into the Kona LS card via AES/EBU, channels 1/2.

In the Log & Capture window of FCP I can see levels for the audio, I can hear the audio, and I can read the TC from the deck as well as control it. Therefore, everything is hooked up correctly. However, when I log a clip and try to capture it, the clip continues past the OUT point and never actually captures anything.

When I try capturing logged clips via other methods, e.g. DV Firewire, I have no problem capturing with frame accuracy. So I know this problem has something to do with the KONA LS card.

    Thoughts??? Anyone???
