Kona LHe + Premiere cs6 = a pain in my arse
I’m having multiple problems with this card as it pertains to premiere. This is my first experience with Aja by the way. I’ve installed the most recent drivers and the premiere plug in (while on the phone with tech support). In premiere, I was having this awful lag when I pressed play. The audio would start, followed by the video a second or so later. That happened about 75% of the time, completely randomly. As soon as I disabled the card inside premiere, no problem.
Also, when I switch back and forth between premiere and anything NOT premiere, the card switches from 1080 to the annoying color bars at 525 (pal). I’ve tinkered around inside the Aja control panel and no matter what I do, it defaults to the color bars at 525.
The next thing may be a premiere problem, but I am unable to access the playback settings in the drop down menu of the source monitor. It’s just grayed out. I can get to it inside the menu, but what a pain. And it gives me NO options. It looks like premiere completely hijacks the card.

Is the same happening in Machina? (Lag, color bars.)

What IS machina? I’m looking online and I see it but no clue what it really is.

AJA Machina software – usually part of the driver set for Windows – also available for download separately.
Does capture / playback, VTR control, some other basic functions.

Yes, same goes for the LHi I am running. The performance on the PC side is very messy.
According to AJA, they know about two of the main bugs that irritate me the most. #1 being that the card defaults to 525 when you restart, or sometimes even come out of an app. So you have to repeatedly change the settings or at least load a custom preset over and over again.
Second, coming out of After Effects, the new Transmit plugin crashes After Effects ungracefully.I have no idea how any of this makes it through beta testing or QC.
I wouldn’t be too miffed about it but the client monitor is always a trainwreck with the current system, as it changes resolutions, gets stuck in rogue video modes, and generally acts badly, in front of the client.
This isn’t my normal experience with AJA, especially on the Mac (although they have also had the control panel app reset itself on every restart in some past builds as well).
According to AJA, some fixes are coming for the two bugs I mentioned above. They cant come too soon.

I do hope they straighten this out. I went with AJA due to their great reputation in the industry, but right now the Blackmagic card i used on my old system is looking pretty good…

The Kona LHe is not supported by AJA in Adobe CS6…CS5.5 is supported with v9.1 driver/v9. plugin….you need a Kona LHe Plus card for CS6 support with v10.1 -10.3.1 driver/10.3 plug-in….but check with AJA technical support Phone: +1-530-271-3190
