Kona LH – Will this do the job for me?
Hi, I am on a G5 dual 2Ghz and looking to find a card which will allow me to work with Digi Beta, HDV, and P2 (DVCPRO HD), XDCAM and HDCAM if I need to. I want to be able to monitor via component to my SD monitor (I can’t stretch to a HD one yet!) I tried a card previously and had a lot of problems with the downconversion quality from P2 / DVCPRO HD footage. Will the Kona LH do the job well? I want to output projects onto Digi Beta so downconversion quality is essential.

Sounds like the LH will do what you need as long as you are using all of those individual formats in their own projects. If you need to used SD footage in an HD project, you need the Kona 2 or 3, not the LH.
I have the Kona 3 and it is heaven, a great tool that is intuitive, flexible and easy to use. Aja rocks!

Hi: I have a similar question about the KONA LHe. Can I use it to ingest DVCPROHD and XDCAM HD material and edit both sources in the same FCP timeline?

You can’t mix formats on the same timeline in realtime. You use the Kona to convert your XDCAM material to DVCPro HD.
