I’m color correcting a doc shot mostly in DV.
When done,I plan to take my drive to a post house
    and master onto Digibeta.
When I choose options from the AJA Control Panel, there are
    Component SMPTE
    Component Beta
Which do I use to monitor my color correct?
Also in set up there is the options for Analog Black level.
    7.5 IRE
    0 IRE
Which do I use to monitor my color correct?
    Thanks for your help.

According to what I’ve read on other Cow threads regarding component-SMPTE or component-Beta, Beta is what’s used 99.99% of the time. Sony BVM (and some PVM) CRT monitors have a corresponding menu setting for component input type, i.e. SMPTE or Beta.

As for 0 or 7.5 IRE black level, the rule is:

    NTSC (USA) = 7.5 IRE

PAL and NTSC (Japan) = 0 IRE

I found the thread that I was thinking of:

The often eloquent and always entertaining Bob Zelin sets the record straight once again.

    Thanks Alan.
Bob used to be set up all the gear years ago at a facility I worked for in NY.
He’s always been whacked in the best way.
