  • Kona LH long RGB out to projector…good idea?

    Hi there Cow gang,

Just a quick question which I searched for, but didn’t see an answer to.
We’re expanding our current Color / Online FCP bay using a workstation that has a Kona LHe card running to a Sony PVM20L5 multiformat CRT via component BNC.

Now, we’d like to add a projector with an approximately 35′ cable run to the Kona output.
However the projector won’t have an HD-SDI input, but it does have either component RCA or HDMI.

Does anyone think we could use the loop of the Sony 20L5 monitor (i.e. Component BNC out) to run RGB cables to the projector? Otherwise, I guess our only other option would be to get an HDSDI -> HDMI convertor.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated,

    Oliver Power

    Oliver –
35′ is nothing. You can hit your PVM-20L5 with no problems, and loop off of this monitor and go to your projector 200′ away and have NO PROBLEMS.

Remember, you are not feeding RGB. You are feeding an analog component video signal Y Pb Pr to both the PVM-20L5 and your MODERN projector.

If I find that you are using Radio Shack Audio cable with BNC to RCA adaptors to make this happen, and you complain, I will personally fly out to your location and kill you. I don’t care if it’s Christmas.

Thanks for the validation Bob. Luckily, no Radio Shack spoken here 😉
I was thinking of ordering from ‘Blue Jeans Cable’. Or do you have a recommendation?

    thanks,

Blue Jeans cable is fine, but a standard “pro” house for premade cable is http://www.markertek.com
