Some of you have seen me bitch about this for a couple years now, how my Kona output from FCP periodically goes to B&W with all kinds of static outta nowhere.

AJA has helped me with this, but no one here had any answers. Well, I think it was all due to a bad BNC cable to the monitor, which fed from that 12 pin extra component output on the Beta deck. Yesterday it happened again, so I took out the cable to the monitor and rewired it thusly:

Output 1 from my Kramer component switcher goes through the Kona card, output 2 was open so I put that to the monitor. Worked great, at first, but the horizontal hold started to drift from FCP. Beta tapes don’t do that. I have a BB generator hooked up to the decks, the monitor and the Kona card, this shouldn’t be happening. Any thoughts?

I guess another option is a DA convertor from the Kona SDI but that’s an expensive fix.
