  • kona LH default kona output not holding

I have 3 systems all G5’s (first gen) and all with Kona LH cards (not LHe)

    We are running in PAL.

    Ext PAL reference.

    Input SDI with embedded audio.

    Problem:
in the ‘control’ tab I set the “default Kona Output” to one of the settings eg “hold last application” and the “primary (native) format to “625i25”. But when i switch from working in FCP to working on the desktop the Kona control Panel always switches the “default Kona Output” to “test pattern” and the “Primary (native) format” switches to “525i29.97”. The problem with this is that my analogue output to my sony monitor flickers and jumps around continously while working on the desktop.

How do I get the Kona control panel to maintain the setting of “Hold last application” and stop it from defaulting back to NTSC.

    regards
    Daryl

With FCP closed, launch the control panel and set your primary format to 625i25. This should keep your settings when you hop from app to app.

The Kona Control panel gets taken over by the app that has focus, so FCP will work based on the settings within the app (same effect for VTR XCHANGE and Kona TV, or any other app capable of using the Kona).
