Kona LH and Prores
Posted by Christopher Wright on December 27, 2007 at 8:03 pmThis came up in the FCP forum, and I was wondering if the LH and LHe can indeed do Prores and Prores HQ. Anyone here tried this combination??

Not all machines can capture Pro Res through the Kona card. Intel machines can, and apparently the quad core G5s can. All machines can edit and playback Pro Res if files are imported or if you render to Pro Res.
BTW, its quite odd that we can capture to Pro Res via firewire with the slower machines, but not with a Kona card. I’d love to see that one explained… I’m using that technique on a project now and I know it works, but I have no idea why it works.

December 28, 2007 at 1:46 amYes I have yet to need or use Prores on any project so far, and I am in the logic loop/conundrum of whether to invest in a Kona 3 versus IOHD on the octocore. My current MXO, IO and LH just keep pumping out the HD and SD content quite satisfactorily.
