    HI Cow members,

What codec do you normally use to capture and render with Final Cut and After Effects. I am noticing serious shifts in black level when I capture with the Kona v210 codec. When I take the video into After Effects and render it using the v210 codec, the blacks are seriously crushed. On the other hand, if I use FCP Apple Uncompressed 10bit codec for rendering, I see a rise in black level. I am capturing 1920 x 1080i off of an Sony HD-SR machine with my Kona 2 breakout box. Has anyone experienced similar issues, or am I using the wrong codecs for capturing and rendering?

Any help is very much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Yes, there are issues, depending you configuration and codec.

Try this: Capture with FCP’s uncompressed 10-Bit codec.
Setup After Effects to 16 Bit color space.
Render out to FCP’ uncompressed 10-Bit codec but make
sure you’re rendering trillions of colors too …
