Yesterday, I was having problems outputting a 720p59.94 sequence to a tape, something I have done countless times in the last year. I was dropping frames like crazy and tried anything I could think of to get it to work. I ended up exporting the sequence into a quicktime at full resolution, importing said quicktime and laying that to tape. It worked fine.

Then I decided to run the “background array conditioning” in the RAID Admin (where it told me I could only run the process on one half of the array, as one side was “degraded or offline” (this may be problem number one). This took all night. This morning I come in and try to Edit to tape and the first thing I notice is that my edit to tape window is showing nothing but GREEN, same for log and capture. I have deck control, but can’t see anything.

Now, nothing works. I can’t even play anything back at all now. Is my card fried? Is my RAID toast? any advice at all would be most welcome.

I’m running FCP 4.5, Kona 2 card, 10.3.9 on a G5 Dual 2.0 Ghz, recording to D5. This is a system that has been working great for about a year, minus a hiccup here and there.

I’m posting this to the Kona thread as well.

[Michael Black] “I’m posting this to the Kona thread as well.”

I would call tech support, not post anything on the Cow. You’ll get much faster results this way as the AJA support team is the best in the business.

Sounds like you either have a bad conflict now or your drivers got corrupted.
