AJA didn’t have the answer.
ProRes422 and ProRes422HQ works fine – so don’t be a wise ass.
Input HD-SDI from HD1400, using FCP 7.0.1, with OS-X 10.6.2.
DVCProHD 59.94. If you capture for 10 – 15 seconds, everything works fine – the 1280x whatever becomes the 960x whatever and it works perfectly.If you capture at DVCProHD for over 3 minutes, the SIZE changes to 640×330 (that’s right 330). Switch to ProRes, and NO PROBLEMS, and yes, this is a clean install, and yes, I trashed every preference (including Quicktime) that I could find ?
Anyone that can answer this gets a cookie.

I see this often with ProRes HQ which is why we stopped capturing to that format, although it’s always 640×360. AJA has told me they can never reproduce the problem.
We also get this exact issue on rare occasions with ProRes.
Have not seen it with DVCPro HD.

It troubles me that Walter and I have BOTH had the original “audio popping problems” with DVCProHD (we never heard of that problem), and now, both Walter and I have the same problem with capture, and changing frame size (we never heard of that problem).

There is an apple firmware update that was supposed to fix this- it is specific to that machine also.

I’ll echo Walter’s comment. I’ve seen that using Pro-Res, which is why I stopped using it some time ago… especially Pro Res HQ.
Now with FCS3, we’re trying Pro-Res again (we’d like to use it). Now I’ve discovered a problem rendering where I get a “file already exists” error and it won’t render sections that were previously rendered. So far, I can’t reproduce that using something other than Pro Res (an admittedly unscientific test).
FWIW, I have been experiencing some audio popping too… I thought we were past that…

Let me ask you this, Bob…
With regards to the audio popping issue.
Do you have the VANC option checked or unchecked and what version of the AJA driver do you have?
I had this issue with the 7.0 driver but since upgrading to the 7.0.1 driver, the popping has seemed to have gone away with the VANC checked.
BUT…. Now, I’m seeing other issues that I did not have like my previews are no longer realtime and when your timeline has a area where there is no video but has audio and then it has more clips after that, the video will slow down then speed up as to catch up with the CTI.
Puzzling…

I no longer have access to the update- talk to one of the service guys you know- it was specific to the late 2008 / early 2009 machinesgary adcock
