  Kona 3 – Best SD output from 2K footage

  We work mostly on RED nowadays.
  But still deliver to TVs in DigiBeta.

  What do you think is the best path to output my 2048*1152 timeline to PAL?

  We PAL users can’t output 2k at 25fps with the Kona3, so I tell FCP to output 1080p, which worsens the image!

  Shall I get a Blackmagic? (we have a Decklink HDPro and i like it less but offers 2k 25fps output).

  I’m often having issues with the fields. Working 2k with no fields, outputting progressive but when downscaling with the Kona3 to 652i i get nasty interlacing artifacts (although the resolution is perfect on still frames). I know there’s no way it looks goot on both CRT and LCD though.
