Actually a good question because there are no analog inputs on the Kona 3. You have several options.

I have the AJA Io LA which features analog Component, Composite and S-Video I/O and can be used alongside a Kona 3 in the same system. Outstanding box, the only thing you need to know is that all analog inputs are XLR so if you only have RCA out from your VHS machine, you’ll need to pick up some RCA to XLR adapters or cables.

Another option is to look at AJA’s array of analog to digital converters to convert your analog signal to SDI. That allows you to feed your analog signals directly to the K3.

I prefer the Io LA because there are multiple options on it for analog.

I’m running a Kona 3 and an Aja Io on the same computer with no problems. I run an Aja La on another system with good results as well.

How do you connect the Kona 3 and IO to the computer at the same time?
I’m just asking about the physical connections, NOT capturing at the same time.

Kona card is installed inside your machine.

Io is connected via Firewire.

I knew about Kona inside, it was IO being via the inbuilt firewire that I did not know about until now.
