  • Kona 2 studio monitor out doesn’t display when playhead stopped

My Kona 2 using FCP 5.03 has an issue where it plays back to the studio monitor when playing or doing slo-mo, but doesn’t send anything to the studio monitor when scrubbing or just sitting on a single frame. Anyone know how to fix this?

Refresh AV devices in the view menu,

Shift F12 will also force display the current frame.

What codec is this happening with?

Does your easy setup match your timeline?

This is happening with both 1080i and 720p sequences that have the sequences matched to the easy setups. The codec is DVCProHD. What’s happening is during playback it displays what’s in the timeline/canvas, but when stopped it switches over to whatever is in the viewer….

    operator error
make sure to set FCP to view all frames and the video out setting is matched up to the seq settings.

this can happen if you bounce between a lot of settings= the easy setups do not always reset the video out

Thanks for the input. The problem was that I had “Show Excess Luma” enabled.

I have another question now: When I play a clip that’s marked orange in the timeline using dynamic settings, the studio monitor doesn’t play along with the Viewer. Is this unavoidable?
