Kona 2 Issue (I think…)

Well, here we go. Running FCP 4.5, dual 2 ghz, 1.5 GB ram, 10.3.7, Aja IO, Kona 2 and Huge Dual Channel 160 and Huge Dual channel 320S, UL4D.
For quite some time I’ve been having the following problem. Usually during capture with the Kona 2 (720P or 1080i) the capture window will freeze and one side of the drive will go out and I will get the dreaded six beeps from the drive. The drive then refuses to remount after what is often an ugly shutdown. After sending the drive back to Huge on several occasions and losing countless hours of work they sent me a new drive and whaddya know…the same problem.
The system works fine with the IO and the 160 and today I ran some tests sending standard def to the 320S and that seems to work fine as well. Spoke with Atto and downloaded the 3.4 driver and tech support said the firmware was fine. Have a call into Aja support but haven’t heard back yet.
This has literally been going on for months but it’s so intermittent that it’s really hard to get a handle on. The one thing I do know is that I now have to go out of house this weekend to finish a project that has a deadline of next week. I just can’t risk it anymore in my room.
I’m sure I’m leaving out some pertinent info but that’s all I’ve got for now.
Any help/insight would be greatly appreciated as I’m pulling out what little hair I have left!

Definitely a drive issue or SCSI card issue and nothing to do with the Kona 2. The Kona 2 is simply passing the video through to the drives, the drives are failing and it sounds like a throughput issue.
You say the system works fine with the Io, but you’re capturing standard def with it. Does the Kona 2 work fine when you capture Standard def with it? If so, then your drives are not handling uncompressed HD.
I run 1080i and 720p uncompressed no problems with my Medea FibreChannel FCR2X array.

How are you running a 160 and a 320 dual array on a single card?
my guess is that you are getting a scsi conflict –
if you are using 2 cards they have different drivers – big problem.
if you are using the same card for both machines the 320 will have problems with a slower Scsi device attached to the bus.Mac’s do not like having 2 kinds of storage connections in them at the same time – I have never been able to get fibre and SCSI to work on the same machine for instance.

Thanks guys and sorry for the miscommunication. I’m not running those drives simultaneously. After further testing I can’t even get my 320 array to capture standard def through my IO. Yet, when I switch drives and capture to the 160 with EXACTLY the same setup, no problems at all. This obviously takes the Kona 2 out of the equation. When I posted yesterday I was having success capturing standard def to the 320 but that went out the window this morning upon further testing. I’m thinking the next step is to switch the slot of my UL4D whcih I’m scared to do right now as I’m in the middle of a standard def project on the 160 and don’t want to mess until I can output.
Any further ideas?

4ULD cards like the 4 slot.
and you did not say if you had another card in the machine.

No other capture cards other than the Kona 2. UL4D is riding in the 4 slot. Hmmmm……..
