I just installed the Kona 2 and a RAID O array from Pro Max (2 x 250GB SATAMAX e drives). I’m digitizing footage from a 1200A to those same drives and when I save or FCP 5 autosaves, sometimes my whole system freezes. I have to manually shut down the computer to get it started again. Running a DUAL 2.0 G5 with 5GB of RAM, Tiger OS and using FCP 5 as NLE. The footage is going through the HD SDI channel and the DVCPRO HD 720p24 and 720p60 codecs. 1200A is being controlled by RS 422. What could be causing this dilemma. Please help!!!!

disconnect your ProMax drives, and yank out your Kona 2. Do a simple DV project, and let FCP autosave. I bet it freezes up. Then it’s your MAC – probably a corrupt OS, which will get resolved by repairing permissions, and trashing your FCP preferences. If it DOES NOT freeze up, put your drives back on, and see if it happens.

I’m going to try this as soon as I get home and start
working on that system. Thanks for the reply.
