That’s your problem right there. Vegas Pro 12.0 doesn’t take full advantage of the new Kepler cards. So this card will perform, worse than a old 5 year old GTX 570. So while your machine may be killer… Vegas Pro can’t take advantage of the GPU that you selected.

I don’t have a 5D MkIII and probably not others. We need to know what the exact video format is. What does the MediaInfo utility say about those files. It is a free program you can download.

I do have a Canon 7D and they are MOV files with AVC video at 44Mbps, PCM audio for 1080p30. I can put a gaussian blur on one of these clips and it plays back fine GPU ON or OFF with one exception. Best Full, GPU OFF, in my half sized preview window which is a waste. Best Half/Auto is fine. I normally edit Preview Auto/Half.

Do you get different performance with GPU turned off?

Thank you for you answer John, but I just got the Titan Black 2 weeks ago, and I had GTX 590 (dual GPU) before and it was the same problem…

Vegas Pro doesn’t support dual GPU either.

Can you post a small sample video file in this format to the COW? I’d be happy to test playback with my ATI Radeon HD 5870 and see how it performs. Maybe it’s just a difficult file format to decode?
