  • Keying out green screen, but subject’s clothes has green in it

Posted by Melissa Evans on July 30, 2012 at 9:58 am

Is there a way to key out the green screen without keying out the green portions of the character’s clothes?
The green in the clothes is not very close to the green screen color, but it still gets keyed out when I use keylight.
I’d prefer not to have to rotoscope as this character appears quite a lot of times..

Any suggestions and help will be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Look up keylight inner and outer mask tutorials. You could, possibly, pull a key that protects this hue of green, erode the edge, and then use it to feed another instance of keylight to where it becomes a mask that blocks the inner portion of your subject. You can then pull a more subtle key for the edges/background.
