  • Keying in numerical values to change duration/move clips

    Hello!

    Hopefully the title wasn’t too vague. I’ve recently started the transition to Premiere from FCP7 and I’ve been very happy so far.

    My question is about a move I used quite often in FCP. If I were to highlight a clip and just type +12 then ENTER in the timeline, the clip would move forward 12 frames. Same would happen if I used the trim tool to extend a clip, etc.

    I know I can still use option arrows to move clips and add handles/change lengths, but is there a way to key in numerical values like I was able to in the past? It’s not a deal breaker for me, but it was something that was often handy for speeding up my workflow, so I’m hoping it’s possible.

    Thanks in advance for any help!

    I think you are talking about the NUDGE tool? Premier CC – Edit – Keyboard Short cuts – search for nudge.

    See if that is what you are looking to do.

    [Bryant Stanton] “If I were to highlight a clip and just type +12 then ENTER in the timeline, the clip would move forward 12 frames.”

    Should work in Premiere: highlight the clip(s), type “+” or “-“, and enter the desired increment in frames or timecode.

    Slide a clip one frame at a time using:

    {ALT} + {LEFT ARROW}
    {ALT] + {RIGHT ARROW}

    Use {ALT} + {SHIFT} + {L/R ARROW} to move five frames at a time.
