Is there some way to animate/keyframe the action of the Polygon tool? Perhaps there is a plug that could create that effect? Any suggestions?
    thanks much.

Polygon Tool? You mean modelling? Movement of points/polys can be recorded via PLA, creation and deletion of Polygons or points can not be animated.

Well what I have is a cube with 10 segments x,y, z – I make the cube editable, then select a small portion on the front face of the cube, then when I grab the Poly tool, I can extrude that portion of the cube left or right. But I want that to happen over, say 90 frames. I tried pressing the Record PLA / Active Objects at 0, advancing to frame 90 and using the tool to move some stuff, then pressing th Record button again. But that isn;t the trick, obviously.
So can you tell me the correct steps? Must be missing something. Basically, I would like to “shear off” the front face of a cube over time.
    Thanks much.

You cannot animate mesh edit operations, since they add/ delete geometry. In you example however you could simply leave the Extrude at zero and then use PLA. PLA mu
