Keyframe setting when rendering video
I’m rendering video clips for online viewing at 256kbs 640 x 480 DVD quality and I would like to know what impact does keyframe settings have on the video. What is the different results if I use 4 keyframes or 300 keyframes? I don’t have a solid understanding of what importance that setting is. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Keyframes define the state of various setings such as FX and Pan/Crop at any given moment.

After I build my project in Vegas, I render the project as a wmv file. I choose options under wmv template. I choose best rendering, I then click the video tab and choose 640 x 480 DVD quality. On that video tab is a setting for keyframes. I think Vegas defaults the keyframes to 3 or 4. If I changed that setting to 300 does it have any affect on how the video is rendered?

OK,in this context “keyframes” acually are referring to I-Frames (complete stand-alone frames), and the setting is not for the number of I-frames but for how many seconds occur between them. So, if I read this right, the LOWER the number you set, the more I-Frames you create for a less compressed video.
