Way back when, you used to be able to tap a key to set a timeline marker–worked great when you needed to match music. But now I no longer can remember how I did it — or maybe they just removed it. Is it still in there? I’ve checked some on-line shortcut references and don’t see it.

Perhaps your referring to the “M” Key? Hi-Lite a track press “M” to place a marker, press and hold a few seconds to open dialogue to name marker. Do not hi-lite track to place Marker on timeline instead of clip.

Yes, it is the “M” key but for some reason I vaguely remember that it was the asterisk key. Or my memory is simply playing tricks on me. All my old book are packed away at the moment so I can’t reference any that I worked on for Premiere Pro 1.5. 🙂

It might just be that I moved it there to make it easier to use?

‘M’ for ‘Marker’–should have guessed that.

Thanks. I was in the right general area–I using trying period and comma. I also remember it being * at one time.

And, just noticed ‘Keyboard Shortcuts’ in the Edit menu, which shows it plain as day to be ‘M’. As you can tell, I’m a very casual user of Premiere, even though I’ve been using it for over 20 years.
