    Hallo,

i am sitting on a brand new MAC PRO 2x 2.66 GHz Quad-core with 16GB ram. we are running os 10.6.2 and FCP 7.0.1. the machine is sparkling new, just out of the box last week. i have my OS set to english and the FCS is also installed in english, but i have a german keyboard…we also have an aja kona LHe…and a wacom intuos4, but i do not think they are interfering with anything…we are editing xdcam ex and are right in the middle of a 5 week tv production schedule…

my problem is that my short cuts are disappearing on me. it didn’t happen the first couple of days but now it happens all the time… even the default shortcuts do not work such as “cmd + z” which makes working in front of my client somewhat embarrassing and sloooooow…

i have saved my layouts daily, but every time i quit FCP, my layout is gone, and the saved layout is not complete…so i must set up the entire layout again…

does anyone know what i can do to solve this problem? besides this the system has worked without any glitches…

    thanks for the help.

Could it be that you are switching languages -and thus keyboard layouts- without knowing it? That would explain the cmd+z not working. Check your system preferences; if the shortcut for changing the language (I’m not in front of a Mac, so I can’t check where to find it) is a combination you use in FCP, OSX picks it up before FCP does…

    Greets,
    A.

I had a similiar problem with Motion 4 and solved it by switching to a Standard keyboard, At least I think that’s what did it – all the default shortcuts started working again.

I’m getting the same error (FCP 6.0.6). Really frustrating.

I use the Dvorak layout and have saved a layout for Dvorak, but it complains that it’s for a different keyboard layout and doesn’t apply the shortcuts.

Because of this and other problems over the years (still no multi-threaded rendering or export from Final Cut), I’m trying out the copy of Adobe Premiere Pro that came with my After Effects package and am seriously thinking of switching all my projects to it instead.

Trashing all my prefs, restarting FCP, and reloading a saved keyboard layout still gives the error, but loads the preferences properly. Giving it another shot…
