Is there a “quick and easy” way to create the Ken Burns effect for a slideshow in Pro 10. I believe that Movie Studio advertises this effect by name, but I haven’t seen something similar for Pro. I know that it can be done by using pan and crop, but I was hoping for something that can be done quickly using presets.

You would have to use a script to do this. Check out the Photo Montage tab of VASST Ultimate S Lite or Ultimate S Pro. It will do exactly what you want in one click. Here is a training video:

In the interest of full disclosure, I work at VASST. 😉

Hi, you can also try https://vegasaur.com/pan-crop-assistant (Pan & Zoom tab)

I’ve tried Montage Magic but it didn’t seem to give me the fine grain tuning that I wanted. I still use it for simple jobs, but for the kind of Ken Burns look, I just jump into pan. It’s not that hard! Learn it and use it to good affect/effect. (G).

So tell me Aleksey, in the interest of “full disclosure”, do you work for Vegasaur? You seem to recommend them a lot.

And to make the story complete: there is a third way to create a “quick and easy” Ken Burns effect for a slideshow in Pro 10:

    Excalibur

    (No, I don’t work for JetDV 😉 )

And hopefully soon we will have a fourth way to create quick and easy slideshows: Scatter 3D (John, is there any news about Scatter 3D?)

Thanks for your honesty. I just want to be sure that we differentiate recommendations from happy customers from those by people who stand to make a profit from it. It’s always good to be upfront about your intention.

Maybe I didn’t get far enough into the video tutorial, but how you you apply the montage settings to only a portion of the timeline? I want to start the pan and zoom effects at a certain point in the project.
