  • Keeping Time-code when converting from analog to digital video

Posted by Carl Crawford on August 4, 2005 at 6:59 pm

Is there a way to keep/import your time-code when converting your analog video to digital video? I am using a Beta deck and and Canopus board to bring video into FCP 4.5. Since any notes we take during the shoot are time-code specific, I would be great if I could keep the time-code the same after conversion.

    Thanks

We use the Aurora Pipe Studio when capturing all BetaSP material. The timecode comes down the RS-422 connection. In your case you would need to hook RS-422 up to the deck and machine control the deck that way. This might get you the necessary info.

Get one of these puppies. I use this with my laptop and a canopus on location all the time. Very accurate.
