  • keeping the lens clean?

    Hi all,
I’m shooting an XH A1 and using the Canon wide anle lens and I’m having a devil of a time keeping the lenses clean. Tiniest bit of dust that I can’t see in the viewfinder is readily apparent on the big screen. Sometimes the camera focuses on the dust. Anyone have some basic tips for ensuring the lenses are clean and keeping them clean? Even using a blower and/or a lenses cloth doesn’t always help.

  • One approach to help-

Add a neutral density filter (internally, or add it to the lens) and that will cause the iris to open up more.

That will cut down on the camera’s tendency (and ability) to “focus on the front of the lens.”

You could set the shutter to a shorter exposure time to accomplish this, but that can add visual artifacts (such as staccato motion) to the image.
