I am new to FCP (Avid user learning FCP). On the Avid, when you want to replace a shot that is bound on each side with a dissolve, you simply mark your clip, insert the new one and your dissolves stay. I am noticing in FCP that the dissolves are removed when you swap out the shot. Is there a way of doing this without having to rebuild the dissolves that were there? I can’t find anything in the user manual that explains this.

    Thanks in advance!

Sorry, can’t do that in FCP yet. I remember the older versions of Avid where you couldn’t do that either. Then the Meridians came out and BOOM, dissolves remained intact.

Hope they add this one day.

Yes, this was amazing when Avid implemented this feature. So simple, and a huge time saver. So, no way to do it in FCP? That should have been added a long time ago. I will trudge along for now.
