Would I be able to capture it if I took my SONY deck, JVC footage and used it on a different mac?

no, you have to have a JVC deck to capture this over firewire and your imac would have to be at least a dual G5 to edit smoothly.

Ouch! Thanks. I guess I have to find a deck to borrow somehow. As for the computer, the dual Intel core 2.8 with 3GB of RAM should suffice, right?
