JVC SR-VS30U and FCP 4.5
Is anyone else out there using this configuration? I’ve got a client who is having problems. Short story is, FCP will not recognize the deck via the FW connection. I tested both FW ports and the FW cable and they check out fine, so it seems to be either a deck configuration problem or a FCP problem (I also trashed FCP prefs but that didn’t help). I’m thinking it’s the deck because my experience with it so far is that it isn’t a very intuitive piece of gear.
The weird thing is it was working fine (seeing video from the deck and sending video to the deck) until he did the latest ProApps software upgrade (along with some other seemingly inconsequential upgrades like Java and Security Updates). He’s on a dual 1.8 G5 with 1Gb of RAM using OS 10.3.9. Is there anything in that upgrade relating to FW? I haven’t heard great things about 10.3.9 — could that be a part of the problem?
Does anyone have this setup working properly? Was there anything strange you had to do to get it to work right? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.Andrew

not the greatest piece of gear, but great vhs dubs via firewire:) did you shut down ( not restart) everything, unplug the unit and try again. I find that works. also make sure channel is set to f1.
