JVC HM100 .mov sequence settings
Posted by John Mcdonald on October 7, 2009 at 9:05 amI’m about to start a long term project using a JVC HM100 recording in .mov format at 1280 x 720 at 50fps.
Could anybody suggest the sequence settings needed in FCP (FCS3) to best work with the .mov files and any tweaks to the preferences that would be useful?

October 7, 2009 at 6:52 pmWe have just started to use the HF100 cameras. An additional note is that due to the file size limits, it breaks longer footage into multiple files. I believe that there is a plugin from JVC for FCP to allow log and transfer like the P2 workflow. I would suggest looking into this prior to starting your shoot. If you need the details, email me directly and I will get my guys to do a writeup.

In anyway that somebody will watch it 😉
Definitely on DVD, both SD and HD, as per my previous efforts, but it will have a strong possibility of being purchased for television if I do a good enough job.
We stuff will develop I guess in the two years it will take to make, but DVD and Television sales are my main aims currently.

Sorry, a bit late.
If you want to deliver the movie in HD and in SD, edit in HD.
Going from p50 to SD PAL will have no problems.
If you are using graphics or animations would be better that for the SD version you set the graphics once the movie have been downsized. Downscaled graphics doesn’t look so ood.
Cheers,
rafael
