  • JVC HDV @ 720p – How to capture in XpressProHD 5.2.4?

Posted by Roc Barbanica on May 14, 2006 at 4:52 pm

I shot with my JVC GY-HD100U @ 720p 24p. I also have the HDV deck BR-HD50U to ingest into my Avid.- No mojo, by the way- firewire only. System- XP pro on a dual Xeon w/ 4 GB RAM, 5 TB storage-

Now, how the heck do I get my footage into Avid???

Please- $20.00 to whomever gets me through this – I SWEAR!

Are you new to Avid? Do you know how to setup a deck?

Go to the Project window, and choose the Settings tab.
Double-click the Deck Configuration setting to open it.
    1. Click Add Channel
    2. Set Channel Type to FireWire
    3. Set Port to OHCI
    4. Select OK

    5. When prompted to auto-configure the channel, click, No.

    6. Click on Add Deck
    7. Under Devices, select JVC
    8. On the right-side of Devices, select BR-HD50U
    9. Click on the OK button at the bottom
10.Click on Apply in the Deck Configuration window

Use the keystroke, CTRL+7 to open the Capture Tool

Nope- Not new to Avid and the deck works fine when in DV mode- not when in HDV-

And you created the correct project type?

May as well list what you have tried.

    Yep- Project type is good-

Can’t get the Avid to recognize the deck when it’s in HDV mode.

    Any ideas?

I did a search on the Avid forums using this text, “HDV deck BR-HD50U”.

It turned up interesting comments. At this point, I’d say contact JVC, and post this on the Avid-L2, and the Avid Forums.

I believe this JVC format is not yet supported by Avid Xpress Pro / MCA.
