JVC GY-HM200U WiFi issues and other findings
Picked up the GY-HM200u for work and here’s my quick run down of what issue’s I’ve run into already.
WiFi:
Tried to connect the camera to WiFi that uses WEP and a 10 character password, but the menus on the camera won’t let you advance unless you have a 5 or 13 character password. So use WPA, WPA2, or lengthen your WEP password if possible.Live Streaming:
Only certain record resolutions will allow you to use the live streaming feature, otherwise it’s grayed out.
Record Format – BitRate – Available Streams
1080/60p – 50M XHQ – Stream in 1080/60i, 720/30p, 480/60i, 270/30p
1080/60i – 50M/30M XHQ – Stream in 1080/60i, 480/60i, 270/30p
1080/30p – 50M/30M XHQ – Stream in 1080/60i, 720/30p, 480/60i, 270/30p
720/60p,50p,30p,25p – Stream in 720/30p, 480/60i, 270/30p
SD – Stream in 480/60i, 270/30pAudio Volume Knobs:
I don’t have giant hands or fingers, but the knobs to adjust the volumes for the channels are not the easiest to adjust. They are mostly hidden by plastic disks and have too much give when pressing them from the side.If anyone has any other questions about the camera let me know.
5/25/15 Update
Updated to firmware v0105-0092, which still has issues with the WEP password length, which turns out really isn’t a problem. More like a nuisance. I figured out that the camera requires the ASCII version of the WEP password. So if your pw started as a HEX string, have fun typing in the converted unprintable ASCII characters into the camera menu.
