JVC deck and fire wire
Our JVC HD-BR50 deck is what we are using as a capture device to Adobe Premiere Pro. We installed a new computer with Windows 7 professional. Each time the fire wire connection is activated the computer crashes-blue screen. We have just installed our 3rd fire wire card and have already changed the default driver to the Legacy driver. Same result. We moved the deck to our 2nd tower and plugged it in to a computer running Windows 7 Ultimate. (The tower that currently effectively runs our JVC SR-DVM600 for capturing) with the same result; crash-blue screen. I am happy to send the unit to JVC but before I do I wanted to ask all of you gracious information-sharers if you can see anything here I may be missing. This resolution is already weeks past due and I don’t want to waste another 2-4 weeks sending this to JVC if the deck is not the issue. The deck worked fine prior to new computer with windows 7.

If you reference your previous post and also search Google for this issue, you’ll find that it is a Firewire driver issue, not exclusive to the use of Premiere.
I would strongly suggest contacting JVC directly for a solution, in lieu of that then get an XP machine where you know the drivers have worked or ask a rental house for a different deck.
Alternately, you could use something like a Blackmagic Decklink SDI card, hook it up to your deck via SDI and and capture with Blackmagic’s recording software. I haven’t done it personally but perhaps the RC-422 connector will afford you better deck control as well.
