I have been trying to create titles using text media. I am not all that impressed with them. One of the things that I think is hindering is that I want to use feather/outline in black to help the words stand out. But even the narrowest black border I can make surrounding the letters seems way too obese. Here are some screenies. Any suggestions on how to make a sharp narrow feather black border around letters?
    Many thanks as always!

Don, a few suggestions for you.

#1: Make your text size twice your project size.

#2: Add a drop shadow to the titles.
Notice the difference when I do this with your images.

#3: Change the colour for “Little Lorikeet” to white as, IMO, the original colour gets lost in the foliage.

That looks definitely better Mike. Okay I am mathmatically challenged I guess. How do I translate the frame size numbers 1440 x 960 into font size (you did mean font size when you said text size right)?
Or perhaps I missed something very important.

Also can I ask what font you were using? I used Verdana Humana 95. That of course would make things a bit different. I used Verdana Humana because it is a serif font and I thought it jazzed things up a bit.

    Don, sorry for the misunderstanding.
When I said to double things, I meant the frame size (in the top left), not the font size.
This is a text trick that I picked up on a Vegas forum years ago and I find that it makes the text a bit crisper with no side effects whatsoever.

I was using the Candara font in my examples as it was the closest match I could find to your font.

Great Titles with the DV Codec (here on the Cow) is an excellent article on the do’s and don’t of titling.

    Okay Mike:

Yes I think the titles now look crisper and many thanks for the tips!

    Cheers!
