Just bought a Decklink Studio 2 card but it doesn’t play out H.264. Any suggestions?
I just bought a Decklink studio 2 card. Unfortunately I can’t play out H.264 video in my FCP timeline which is essential for my new client. Since I opened the package, B&H will not let me return it. I am considering selling it on ebay now. Is there another card that will let me play out H.264 and give me component, composite, HDMI, and balanced audio outputs? AJA said theirs would play out H.264, but only in Adobe Premiere. I’ve been editing for fifteen years, but every time I stop buying equipment for a minute I fall out of the loop.

The card would have to have a hardware H264 decoder to make up for it missing in FCP – and I can’t think of any card that does it and is compatible with FCP7.

Hi,
Although H.264 decoding can now be done via the host computer, not every application will support it’s output via a video card. If you use the DeckLink Studio in Adobe Premiere Pro, you will also be able to play out H.264 files via the card so this feature is really application specific.
