Just about to buy FCP and need advice on which MAC
I have just bought a Panasonic AG-HVX 200 with the Firestore FS-100, I’m looking to buy Final Cut and I want to know which MAC I should be looking at, would love the new Power Mac totally specced out but my budget is only around £1000 ($1450 apx).
Should I go for the iMac and if so can I get it tailored to suit FCP? As this and possibly photoshop are the only things I’ll be running on it

Drop by the Apple store and look very carefully at the minimum specs for Final Cut Studio. You will want to be able to upgrade your graphics card, RAM, and add additional drives or eSata ssytems. Can’t do any of that easily on an iMac.
also, OS10.6 is coming out in the next six months or a year and we can probably expect the Studio to be upgraded within a year. You need to be able to expand yoru base machine. Portables and iMacs don’t do that.bogiesan
