I’m working on a video slideshow with music for an event in a big arena that will be shown on a Jumbotron. I edited the program with project properties NTSC DV Widescreen with progressive scan. I rendered in DVDA 5 as a 16:9 project.

I was told the Jumbotron DVD player was 16:9. I took a test DVD to make sure it looked correct, but instead of filling the screen, it’s letterboxed (black bars on top and bottom) and stretched out too wide.

Is there some other way I should set my project/render settings to get this to look correct? Is there some menu setting on the DVD player perhaps?

    Any thoughts gratefully received.

A quick google of “jumbotron resolution” shows that (at least some of) these displays are 12′ wide by 9′ high. That’s a ratio of 4:3 not 16:9 which explains why your footage is letterboxed. I would render a DVD at 4:3 and see if it fills the screen. If not, get the dimensions of the jumbotron they are using and render to that aspect.
