  • JPG files in Final Cut different size once added to sequence!

Posted by Amy Ruhl on July 7, 2008 at 2:25 am

I imported a bunch of jpg photo files into Final Cut, and when I look at them in the viewer, the quality and size is fine. However, once I put them into the sequence and they are shown in the canvas, they are smaller than the actual window, and the image quality has deteriorated to the point of looking pixelated. I would much appreciate if anyone has any suggestions on what I should do to be able to use them at their actual size.

    Thanks!

FCP automatically scales files to fit the sequence. Or not.
You’d have to tell us the dimensions of the JPEGs and the settings of your sequence before we can get much further.
But check the motion tab>scale and distortion

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”

Thanks. Here are my sequence settings: 720×480, Aspect ratio: NTSC DV (3:2)

Pixel Aspect Ratio NTSC – CCIR 601/DV

    Field Dominance: Lower (even)

Video processing is set on “render in 8-bit YUV”

image files size in pixels: 3072 x 2304

Should I change any of the sequence settings?

    Thanks
