Jpg are black in render and preview in randome spots after pan/crop
Hello,
The pictures that I add to Vegas work ok until I crop them in some way. After that they behave sporadically with black sometimes in the beginning, end, or middle of playback. If it is not playback (preview) and I put the cursor where it was black in playback sometimes the picture shows up in the previw sometimes not.
The black in the playback and render is pretty random but consistenly always there some where. The length and where is the random part, and without changing anything it can change. The HD video…I have no problems. I have tried changing the preview settings and render settings and the black parts change but are still there.
I have a Intel core 2 quad Q9550 w/ 8 gig of ram. THe mask box is not checked. If I delete out the jpg and add it back to timeline it is ok, if I crop it starts again.The jpgs are about 4mb and attributes are listed as 3456x2592x24
I have used other slide show software and never had any problems like this.

It could be a resource problem. Those jpgs are 9 gigapixel. HD is 2GP. Try resizing them smaller and see if it makes a difference. Also make sure you are using the latest Vegas Pro 9.0c. Earlier versions of 9.0 had problems with black frames on images.

Thanks for the response…I do have 9.0c trial version and I have tried reducing the jpg to 2100X1575 ( I want to be able to zoom in etc). It is very odd that a profesional video editing has issues with this when many consumer levels software do not. I am really liking vegas but this is very,very odd…i also sometimes have the red jpgs in the time line as well.

As you said, Vegas is a video editing program. Its forte does not lie in processing still images. Other software is better suited for that application. You should probably, at the very least, convert your still images to PNG files. Vegas has much less difficulty processing PNGs.
